Now with NEP-2020 credit & ABC integration

One platform to run your entire university.

LightYears replaces the spreadsheets, registers and disconnected tools your departments rely on. Admissions to alumni — every record, fee receipt, attendance mark and result lives in one system your management can actually trust.

Modules

Eighteen departments. One source of truth.

Every module shares the same student record, the same calendar and the same permission model — so a fee waiver approved by accounts is visible to the exam cell instantly.

Admissions season

Fill your seats without drowning in paperwork.

Enquiries arrive from your website, walk-ins, education fairs and agents. LightYears brings them into one funnel, scores them, and hands your counsellors a call list every morning — so nothing goes cold while your team is buried in verification.

  • Zero re-entry. An approved applicant becomes a student with a roll number, fee plan and library account already attached.
  • Rules you configure. Reservation categories, management quota, sports and NRI seats — encoded once, applied consistently.
  • Real conversion data. See which source, counsellor and programme actually converts, mid-season rather than after it.
Daily academics

Timetables that hold up, attendance that adds up.

Most academic chaos is a scheduling problem. Feed in your subjects, faculty, rooms and constraints; the generator produces clash-free timetables for every section — then keeps them honest when a faculty member takes leave.

  • Electives handled properly. Cross-section, cross-department and open electives without manual reconciliation.
  • Attendance at the period level. Marked on a phone in the classroom, rolled up to subject, semester and shortage lists automatically.
  • Parents in the loop. Shortage warnings go out the same week — not with the marks card at the end of term.
Governance & compliance

Accreditation reports built from live data, not last-minute files.

NAAC, NBA, AICTE, NIRF and university returns all ask for the same underlying numbers. LightYears keeps those numbers current all year, so a submission is a review-and-export exercise rather than a three-month scramble.

  • Criteria-mapped evidence. Documents, photographs and reports filed against the criterion they support.
  • Outcome attainment. CO–PO mapping and attainment calculated from actual assessment marks.
  • Immutable audit trail. Every mark change, fee waiver and re-evaluation carries who, when and why.
Built for everyone on campus

The same data, shaped for the person looking at it.

Management sees trends, faculty see their classes, students see what is due. Nobody is trained on screens they will never use.

Decisions backed by today's numbers

Stop waiting for the monthly review to find out that a programme is under-enrolled or that ₹2 crore of fees is overdue.

  • Live dashboards for enrolment, collection, attendance and results
  • Campus-, department- and programme-wise comparison
  • Budget vs. actual, with drill-down to a single voucher
  • Board-ready reports exported in one click

Customer stories

What changed after the switch.

Fee reconciliation used to take our accounts team the first ten days of every month. It now closes the same evening, and the trustees can see collection figures without asking anyone.
S. RadhakrishnanRegistrar · Vidyasagar Institute of Technology
We put 214 faculty on the mobile app in a single orientation session. Attendance compliance went from roughly 60% of periods being recorded to over 95% within a month.
Dr. Priya MenonDean of Academics · Sri Krishna Group of Colleges
Our last NAAC cycle took a committee four months of evenings. This time the evidence was already mapped to criteria — we spent that effort on the SSR narrative instead of chasing files.

Questions

The things committees always ask.

How long does implementation actually take?
A single-campus college with clean data typically goes live in three to four weeks: week one for configuration and data migration, week two for finance and academics, week three for training, and a parallel run before cut-over. Multi-campus groups and universities usually plan for eight to twelve weeks. We do not charge for migration of your existing student, fee and staff records.
Can it match our university's examination and grading rules?
Yes. Assessment schemes, weightages, credit structures, grade bands, promotion rules, backlog handling and revaluation workflows are all configurable per programme and per regulation year — including CBCS and NEP-2020 credit frameworks, so a college running an older regulation alongside a new one is handled without a workaround.
Where is our data stored, and who owns it?
You own your data, always. Cloud deployments run in your chosen region with encryption in transit and at rest, daily backups and point-in-time recovery. On-premise and private-cloud deployments are available for institutions whose policy requires it. A full export in open formats is available at any time, including on exit.
What happens to the systems we already use?
Most colleges keep their accounting package and biometric hardware. LightYears integrates with Tally and Zoho Books, common biometric and RFID devices, major payment gateways, and LMS platforms such as Moodle and Google Classroom. Anything not covered can be connected through the REST API and webhooks.
Will our faculty actually use it?
That is the usual failure point, so the faculty app is deliberately narrow: today's classes, attendance, marks entry and mentee alerts. Onboarding is a 45-minute session, and every plan includes role-based training for faculty, office staff and administrators. Adoption dashboards show you exactly which departments are lagging in the first month.
What does support look like after go-live?
Every institution gets a named account manager and a support desk over email, phone and chat. Professional and Enterprise plans add priority response targets, a dedicated implementation consultant, and on-site support during admission and examination peaks — the two windows where downtime is genuinely expensive.
